Today’s Craving: South American Food

Tuesday, December 10th, 2013

Whether you are a native of Australia or a vacationer enjoying the wonders of Sydney, these South American restaurants should be visited for a taste of pleasurable Latin treats. You may get the feel of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia or Peru. All you have to do is to choose which among the South American countries you wanna experience, and these restos can certainly give you what you’re looking for.

empanada de pino

Cafe Bariloce. Their Argentinean empanadas are really to die for! Never get out of Café Bariloce without getting one. Because their empanadas are so famous and in-demand, they will all be sold out very early. But never ever give up. All you have to do is be extra patient to wait for the next batch baking in the oven.

Boteco. You will get the feel of Brazil the moment you set foot in this resto-bar. If you happen to be so tired from work, reserve a table at Boteco for the evening and enjoy the never-ending list of cocktails which are deliciously mixed and are a perfect pair for their equally flavorsome tidbits.

La Paula. La Paula will never fail to make you feel you are in Chile with its nationalistic theme. Their empanada de pino which is richly stuffed with juicy minced beef, boiled egg, olive and onion is a sure win especially if it will be coupled with their mote con huesillo, which is a concoction of sugar and cinnamon. For variety in their empanada, you can choose your main stuffing like chicken, seafood tuna or ham. They also have their famed empanada de queso which is a combination of all kinds of cheese and fried to perfection.

colombian coffee beans

Café con Leche. Feast thine eyes on stunning Colombian women who are manning the bar, but never forget your primary purpose of why you are at Café con Leche and that is to feast on Colombian-style scrambled eggs, arepas and a cup of their native, organic Colombian coffee.

La Cocina Peruana. This place puts you at ease because of its cozy, home-like theme. It’s like you are in a Peruvian home plus you get to taste the most genuine South American dishes in the menu.

If your taste buds do not crave for this, then perhaps you need some spit roast. No time to prepare? Then, it is time you call the best people who make spit roast – Blacktown Spit Roast Catering.

How Much Food Do You Need for Your Birthday Party in Sydney?

Tuesday, June 25th, 2013

Planning for a big birthday party in Sydney can be a daunting task. This is especially true if you have never hosted a party as big as what you plan now. Of course, the main concern is that you don’t want to run out of food on that day, but you also don’t want to be end up keeping a lot of party leftovers. You might find yourself caught in a very confusing situation when you start to calculate the food portions you want to serve on your party.

events-sydney

Good thing though that you can avoid these situations if you sit down and take time to follow these simple steps in estimating the food quantity for the party. With this, you don’t have to worry about sending you guests home with half full, half empty stomach nor your fridge suffer the leftover bulge.

1. The general rule is always to round UP the estimates.

2. Always prioritize food menus that are more popular to your guests. Go for big servings on this food selection.

3. The more food choices on the table, the smaller the portion you need on each individual menu.

4. Always assume that guests would want to taste everything that is served but in small portion. Conversely, fewer choices mean greater consumption.

5. For a sit-down party, serve more bread to cover up some hungry spots. For cocktail parties in Sydney, trick the stomach with plenty of pretzels, nuts, olives and anything that guests can nibble.

Suggested Serving per Guest

Trying a Whole New Sydney Caterers Finger Food

Friday, June 7th, 2013

Planning a party is always fun no matter how tiring it can be. But feeding guests of over 50 people can be a bit tricky if you do not hire a good caterer.

21st-birthday-marquee

Food catering services in Sydney are a dime a dozen. It’s easy to call up just anyone to deliver you food for the party you are planning. But then, not all of them can deliver when it comes to offering wide variety of good tasting food that fits any party planner’s theme and budget.

I had a horrible experience once of using a catering service that “forgot” to bring desserts and beverages while 50 people are waiting. As luck would have it, we just finished all the ice creams and fruits around the house.

I had to resort to buying cakes from the grocery store and while they tasted fine, it certainly did not alleviate my disappointment. While my guests were nice about it, I am sure our party did make a good impression.

It took me a lot not to attack someone, even though I am a naturally calm person. I cannot imagine why caterers can FORGET their foods, when it’s the thing they should be the experts of.

Another friend even shared to me her ‘funny’ catering service. Her caterers took it upon themselves to deviate from the plan of beef and chicken and served pork and seafood instead. The thing is, half of her guests were people who do not eat pork or allergic to seafood! Truly, these experiences show you that the catering service you hire can make or break your event.

seafood wedding catering

Now that I am planning another event, I am decided to use All Suburbs Catering Service. I have heard raving reviews about them here in Sydney. They are professional and thorough with their services. The prices of their packages are reasonable too.

There’s a package that would only cost you 12.95 dollars per person and yet you already have roast beefs to serve 50 people or more! At 19.95 dollars per person, you can already have an all-out BBQ party! This is going to be perfect for my next event because most of the guests are my son’s classmates and their families who love BBQs to bits.

I read they also have a package consisting of vegetables and salads. This will be perfect when my mom celebrates her 85th Birthday next month and we’ll have most of her friends over. Who says oldies cannot have fun and gorge in good-tasting food? Can’t wait to experience All Suburbs Catering Service, I am sure they will not disappoint.

Catering for 21st Birthday Parties

21st Birthday Party Catering

A person’s 21st birthday is one of the most important birthdays of them all. For that reason why not make it a day to remember by organising a reliable caterer to do the party food. My Caterer will provide you with 3 competitive quote for top caterers who specialise in Birthday Catering in the catering industry.

We think that a theme makes the night more memorable since it gets people involved and makes the party distinctive. It helps with decisions about food and music. It can be used as a means of self-expression since it could bring out the personality of the party boy or girl. Just use your imagination! Here are some suggestions:

  • Casinos are a good theme because you can organise themed activities and games. Activities eliminate the boredom that mixed with alcohol leads to trouble.
  • Hollywood – Get some guests to be paparazzi outside and take photos of people as they arrive. Present a video of the guest of honour later and introduce it like a movie premiere.
  • Colours make good themes, so do letters of the alphabet. Usually the initial of the party boy or party girl’s first name.
  • 60s/70s/80s themes are good fun. Easy for everyone to costume and the music selects itself. The year the person was born is another possibility.
  • Pool parties, cruises and discos are popular. Here are a couple of more outrageous options: wedding theme, sci-fi, car rally, sleaze, progressive party…
  • Fancy dress (well obviously) but note that this might not work if everyone plans to party on afterwards somewhere else.

Don’t forget the cake!

This is probably the last birthday that you can put one candle for each year of age on the cake without hiding the cake completely. Go for it! Don’t forget, as well, the tradition of the “key to the door”. You could use this as a decoration, or even bake a cake the shape of a key.
